Our home is the Des Renford Aquatic Centre (at Heffron Park) where we run Club races every Friday all year round, sign-on by 6.15pm.  All are welcome to come along and have a trial swim.

Our aim is to encourage swimming and provide swimming opportunities for all levels of ability - whether competing at carnivals held by other clubs and associations or just to swim socially in a Club atmosphere.

This Friday night (3rd Sept) - Free / Back / 100IM or 200IM choice

We have been selected by Bulla Foods to participate in a promotion for a new drink called Fruit & Yogurt. We will be receiving sample bottles of the new drink for our club night on the 22nd Oct 2010. Bulla Foods is also running a web competition called Ready Set Drink! to support the new product. You can enter the website at www.readysetdrink.com.au and take the Ready Set Drink quiz to earn points for our club.

The winning club will receive a swim clinic run by Michael Klim and $1,000 so lets all enter the competition.

We had a successful duel in the pool with swimmers from the Seas the Limit swim club. Photos from the night can be found below:

From the field - another report from Lisa

Campbell town Swimming Carnival, 25th July, 2010

What a busy day we all had we had 13 swimmers competition including myself. The photos from the day can be found inside.

Special mention to our youngest swimmer Stephanie Sinapi who won gold in the 12 Meter back stroke loved it that much that she just swam right through the rope every one was clapping for her also she came  3rd in the 50 free she also swam her PB and had a great day!!   What I was amazed about was William Woodward who came 2nd in the 50 breast and smashed his PB time by wait for it…….. 11.48 seconds his legs must have been moving like propeller jets well done William.  And Anthony what a race came 3rd in the 25 Fly well done, this was also PB.  Another mention Leonie Fu 1st in the 50 Backstroke another PB and 2nd in the 50 Free.  Rhiannon Carr swam 200 Fly for the 1st time and came in second I know how you felt because I also swam that race my arms were like lead weights and I thought I was dying.

I thought it was a good carnival and I thought it was great to see so many Maroubra swimmers who all swam their best I hope you all had fun.  There are not many months left of winter and in winter we normally swim short course this means it’s in a 25 meter pool and summer is long course which is a 50 meter pool I would like to do another short course soon and would love to see more of you there.  Happy swimming.

From Lisa

Attending an away swimming carnival

As more swimmers are now attending swimming carnivals held by other clubs here is a summary of what our members should wear when representing Maroubra Swimming Club:

It is mandatory to wear the club uniform (Maroubra cossies, swim cap and either a T-shirt, fleece or track suit jacket with the club's logo) for all away swim meets

Gather around our “Maroubra” banner

All swimmers sit together during the meet.

Cheer for team-mates when they're swimming

Always speak with the DRAC coach before and after you swim (if they are in attendance at the meet)

 Respect all other competitors

And most importantly - Enjoy the meet!

Our Club adheres to the member protection policy issued by Australian Swimming Inc and more information can be found here.
